Have you ever tried natural remedies for migraine, that particular headache, which is accompanied by crippling pain and sometimes symptoms like vomiting, nausea ? Migraines affect about 12% of adults and 10% of children. The causes are multiple (lack of sleep, alcohol abuse, drop in hormones during menstruation, stress.). We unveil these effective plants that can be used to relieve migraine attacks.

Feverfew can be counted on to relieve a transient migraine. This is a fact recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO). And that's thanks to parthenolide, an active agent found in the leaves of feverfew. Infuse 1 g of chamomile leaves in 200 ml of boiling water. Drink the preparation after filtering it. But do not do so if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman.

The Meadowsweet for quick headache relief

Meadowsweet, by its scientific name, Filipendula ulmaria, is a herbaceous plant whose white flowers contain salicylate derivatives, agents with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Remember that it is from this plant that acetylsalicylic acid, better known under the name of aspirin, comes from. But unlike the drug solution, it preserves the gastric mucosa. Highly concentrated in flavonoids and salicylates, its use is an option to which one can turn to calm his migraine. Just boil 2 tablespoons of dried meadowsweet flowers in 250 ml of boiling water. Filter after a few minutes and drink up to 3 cups a day.

Here is another plant whose effectiveness, in case of migraine, is no longer to be proven: peppermint. A clinical study has shown that it exerts the same effects as a 1000 mg dose of acetaminophen or paracetamol. How to use it ? Place 2 to 3 drops of pure peppermint essential oil or diluted in a small amount of vegetable oil or lukewarm water on the forehead, at the neck or temples. Perform a circular massage at these places. If the pain persists, repeat the operation every 30 minutes. Make sure you don't put it too close to the eyes.

Rosemary to leave pain no chance

People with recurring migraine attacks can take rosemary herbal tea instead of pain relievers to feel better. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory action, it quickly relieves migraines caused by cold. Its infusion is prepared by boiling 2 g of dried rosemary, that is to say the equivalent of a teaspoon in about 150 ml of water, for about ten minutes. Filter the preparation and take a cup as soon as the pain appears. If the pain persists, you can drink up to 3 cups a day. For those who are not fans of herbal teas, rosemary essential oil remains an effective alternative. Apply a few drops of pure oil or mixed with a little neutral vegetable oil on the neck or forehead and massage in a circular fashion, being careful not to touch the eyes.

For centuries, this plant has been used for its relaxing and soothing properties. It treats sleep disorders, reduces anxiety and irritability.

Consuming lemon balm or lemon balm considerably reduces the pain caused by migraines or tension headaches, because of its analgesic effects. It can even fight against viral infections, which are often responsible for migraines.

It is usually used as an infusion for headaches. Boil about 4.5 of the dried parts of lemon balm in about 150 ml of water. Filter and drink up to 3 cups of herbal tea per day. Linden produces exactly the same effect if consumed regularly as an infusion.

If you suffer from migraine, you can also make yourself a very strong coffee. Caffeine has analgesic and vasoconstrictor properties. This allows it to narrow the blood vessels, the diameter of which is widened in cases of migraine.

Other foods are also to be favored as we can see in this video.
